Jenni Glen

Titles: I break in two over you/Of coarse I see you I do (2009)
This piece was inspired two songs called "autumn's monologue" and "the fiction we live" by From Autumn To Ashes. "The fiction we live" is in response to " Autumn's monologue"
Originally I started out with two different paintings, I was trying to live vicariously through these songs to help me get over a really bad time. So I painted two separate paintings to illustrate the different perspectives of these charaters. And they fit so well together, because they belong together. Its a bitter sweet love story. Where one loves another but feels unnotticed, but the other actually does notice them.
If we were to separate the paintings the story is this..
I break in two over you (2009)
Atumn's Monologue
Oh why can't I be what you need?
A new improved version of me
But I'm nothing so good
No, I'm nothing
Just bones, a lonely ghost burning down songs
Of violence of love and of sorrow
I beg for just one more tomorrow
Where you hold me down, fold me in
Deep, deep, deep in the heart of your sins

I break in two over you, oh
I break in two
And each piece of me dies
And only you can give the breath of life
But you don't see me, you don't

Here I'm pinned between darkness and light
Bleached and blinded by these nights
Where I'm tossing and tortured 'til dawn
By you, visions of you then you're gone.
The shock bleeds the red from my face
When I hear someone's taken my place.
How could love be so thoughtless, so cruel?
When all, all that I did was for you

Of coarse I see you I do (2009)
and in response, the other painting's story would be..
The fiction we live-From Autumn To Ashes
You might be just what I need
No I would not change a thing
Been dreaming of this so long
But we only exist in this song
The thing is, I'm not worth the sorrow
And if you come and meet me tomorrow
I will hold you down, fold you in
Deep, deep, deep in the fiction we live
I break in two over you
I break in two
And if a piece of you dies
Autumn, I will bring you back to life
Of course I see you
I do.

Also, my pride and joy! Lonely was my first stencil and the octopus is just always there.
Lonely is my mermaid, and the octopus or "Skully Fish" is her comrad in this story.

Title: You are capable of finding philosophical meaning in everyday life(2007)
When I was at Durham College, Sean Mcquay my prof. and bro:P gave us this hectic assignment. He brought in fortune cookies. The title of this piece was my fortune, and thats when I created the treeheart.
I started off thinking about trees and autumn, and I always thought that when the leaves fall, some sort of nervous system was revealed, it was as if nature was baring it's self to us. Sean and I often compared ideas and theory's about naked forest's looking like a nervous system and that lead to phiolsophical disgussions about life and connections and our connection to nature, thus we have tree heart!
Medium: acrylic + cardboard
