Agnes Mac born Agnieszka Maczynska; Polish painter raised in Szczecin she moved to Canada in the early 1990’s. After attending the University of Toronto where she studied linguistics and theology Mac returned to her original passion and began her study in the arts. Initially inspired by Jean Dubuffet (Art Brut) Agnes continues to experiment with style that closely references abstract expressionism. Her work is typically full of colour and texture and her current subject deals with what it means to be woman; depiction and deception. At the moment Mac is working on a body of work to be viewed at the Wallace gallery in down town Toronto as a part of a collective exhibition.
